Rise, Sir David: Football Legend Honoured by King Charles at Royal Windsor Ceremony

The football icon received a knighthood at Windsor Castle on the weekday. The former England captain, 50, was among those receiving awards for his contributions to athletics and charity. Earlier this year, he stated he was “extremely honored” of being recognised in the monarch's annual honors list.

Football Career Highlights

The player first appeared in England's top division for the Red Devils in 1995 and was a key member that secured a dramatic Champions League final victory in 1999 when they beat Bayern Munich with two late goals.

In total, he scored eighty-five scores and collected honours including six Premier League titles and two FA Cups as a soccer professional, before retiring from the sport in 2013.
